Blue Hair, No Fair!

Kids with special needs get to do all kinds of messy-fun things in the name of sensory experiences and child development. Kellen's sister who is three years older was well aware of this.

One day when Kellen was in preschool, he came home on the school bus with blue paint in his hair. I mean, you could tell that someone had tried to clean him up, but for the most part, his normally blond hair had patches that were very Smurf Blue. I had a good chuckle and then put him down for an afternoon nap. A couple of hours later, his sister arrived home from school.

Me: Wait 'til you see your brother!
DQ: Why?
Me: He's got blue hair.
DQ: NO FAIR!! He got to paint his hair today??
