True Colors

When Kellen was a little guy he used to love Popsicles. In fact, you might say he was addicted to them. He would ask for them all day long. When he would lead me to the freezer, I would ask him what color he wanted. When he learned red, orange and purple, I started buying the box that had green, yellow and brown.

One Fall day we sat in a meeting to write up Kellen's Individual Education Plan with his school team. His Kindergarten teacher was reporting to us her observations of what Kellen already knew. She mentioned that Kellen seemed to know most of his colors except white, black, and pink. I told her, "Of course, those aren't Popsicle colors!"
